Dart Frog RETICULATED BLUE AND BLACK
This iconic dart frog inhabits the humid lowlands of Central America and northwestern Colombia. It has also been introduced to at least two Hawaiian Islands. Although it travels on the ground, the Green & Black Poison Frog is semi arboreal and often feeds and sleeps in vegetation. Captive dart frogs do not have the skin toxins of wild populations due to the different diet. Wild frogs are known to synthesize their toxins from ants and similar prey items. This is a medium-sized dart frog: females may be an inch or more, but the smaller males average about 0.75 inches.
