The Acanthoscurria theraphosoides is a large, fast-growing terrestrial tarantula native to the Amazon Basin. It’s admired for its rich brown coloration, reddish setae, and impressive size as an adult. This species is hardy and adaptable, thriving in tropical forest conditions with moderate humidity and deep substrate for digging. Though it can be defensive when disturbed, it’s an excellent display spider for experienced keepers looking for a bold and active species. With proper care, females can live well over 10 years in captivity.
