In its natural environment, T. apophysis occupies deep burrows or natural cavities in the forest floor near streams and swampy clearings, where the air remains warm and saturated year-round. Agile and powerful, it is a nocturnal ambush predator that feeds on a wide range of prey, from large insects to small vertebrates.
