Poecilotheria miranda, known as the Bengal Ornamental Tarantula, is a large, visually striking arboreal species native to the tropical forests of eastern India. Its appearance combines soft ash-gray tones with bold black leg banding and a distinctive yellow-orange marking on the underside of the first pair of legs — a hallmark of the species. While less vividly blue than P. metallica, P. miranda captivates collectors with its elegant contrast pattern and iridescent sheen under light. In the wild, it inhabits mature sal and teak forests, living inside vertical tree hollows or behind loose bark, where it constructs silken retreats that provide both humidity and protection. This nocturnal species is alert and fast, relying on camouflage and retreating behavior rather than aggression. In captivity, it adapts well to tall, well-ventilated enclosures with moderate humidity and seasonal cycling to mirror its native Bengal climate.
