Psalmopoeus cambridgei, known as the Trinidad Chevron Tarantula, is a large, fast-growing arboreal species native to the humid rainforests of Trinidad and Tobago. Its earthy olive-green base color is accentuated by bold black chevron markings along the abdomen and femurs, giving it both camouflage and striking visual appeal. Unlike many Old World arboreals, P. cambridgei lacks urticating hairs but compensates with exceptional speed and defensive agility. In its natural environment, it occupies tree hollows, buttress roots, and dense vegetation near forest streams, creating silken retreats lined with leaf litter and bark fragments. This species is a prolific hunter and an impressive display tarantula, known for its athletic climbing, calm visibility outside of retreats, and graceful posturing. When housed in captivity, it thrives in tall enclosures with moderate humidity and ample vertical space to mirror the layered canopy of its tropical habitat.
